Top Headlines Ahead of NHL Regular Season + Concussion Discussion

This is NOT a drill! Well, It kind of is... But, only for a few more days! Coaches are putting the final touches on their rosters as the puck is set to drop in under a week on the new NHL season!  

Our interview with Kent Hughes stirred the pot last week as the Habs GM’s quote on Juraj Slafkovsky made waves in Montreal. Ray and Dregs talked the first overall pick and why the Canadiens have no cause for concern. Headlines continued with an interesting tidbit on Habs HC Marty St. Louis’ coaching tactics, whether Darryl Sutter is ‘throwing shade’ at Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk, and Ray takes us inside the mind of an NHL player during the pre-season.

After recent events with Miami Dolphins QB, Tua Tagovailoa, the guys discuss concussions and the need for more oversight in keeping players safe across all sports. Ray recounts multiple knee surgeries during his playing career and the delicate balance between safety, and a player's autonomy in deciding to play the game. 

Kris Abbott put his faith in a Sean McVay, and was immediately disappointed. ‘Abbs’ talked the Niners beating the Rams again at home, and let the guys gloat at their Week 3 wins. Betting odds for the ‘worst’ team in the NHL are discussed with the Arizona Coyotes, Montreal Canadiens, and Buffalo Sabres amongst the contenders to finish dead last. Not such a bad thing in a Connor Bedard draft year!
